Surf Party with Slacktone, Buz

Freight and Salvage presents, Surf Party with Slacktone, Frankie and the Pool Boys, and Buzzy Frets. Slacktone, widely considered the best instrumental surf band of all time, will headline what promises to be a wild celebration of instrumental surf music, with the Bay Area’s own Frankie and the Pool Boys and Buzzy Frets opening. Instrumental surf gained popularity in the early 1960s with surfer and guitarist Dick Dale opening the door for new acts such as the Lively Ones, the Ventures, the Chantays, and many others. Surf Party celebrates those original reverb-drenched sounds with a nod to the original contributions of these modern acts.

Slacktone

Slacktone is widely recognized as America's best surf instrumental band. Their sound is a hyper-kinetic mix of melody, speed and jaw dropping technical skill. Formed in Los Angeles in 1995 from a group of surf band veterans, they have since released four albums and toured Europe six times. Slacktone's music is featured in TV shows like the WB's Summerland, MTV Real People, Fox Sports Network, Boardwild, and they were the house band for the MTV's "Rock N Jock Superbowl Party". They wrote and produced music for 5 Slim Jim extreme sports commercials, and also worked with Subaru for the release of their new sports vehicle, Baja. They have played at numerous outdoor sporting events including the US Open and OP Pro surfing events, NORBA mountain bike races, and several snowboarding events.

Dave Wronski writes all of Slacktone’s songs and has been building guitars at Fender for over 30 years. Dave is considered one of the very best in writing and performing instrumental surf music. He is a career studio musician and has been featured in Guitar Player magazine.

Dusty Watson is a founding member of Slacktone. He has toured and recorded with several artists over the last 5 decades including Dick Dale, The Surfaris, Agent Orange and is currently drumming with The Sonics.

Sam Bolle has played with Slacktone for over 20 years. He was also Dick Dale’s bass player, touring all over the world with Dick until his final show. Sam currently tours with blues guitar phenom Philip Sayce.
