Born into a song-filled Dublin household, Shay started warbling from his perambulator outside the family grocery in Charlemont Street and never really stopped. As a teen, he gathered songs like treasures, scooping them up from parties, public houses and song clubs, and brought them home, encouraging his younger siblings Michael, Mary, Martin, and Frances to sing harmony. Shay is still a song catcher who loves to share his song harvest to this day.

This matinee concert brings it all together in a benefit event for Shay's beloved family support agency Family Paths, from which he is retiring. It also celebrates the 30th Anniversary of the Starry Plough Irish music session that he founded in 1995. And it's his 75th birthday.

What to expect? A myriad of performers, singers, musicians, tunesmiths and dancers who will be turning up to entertain the throng, with plenty of opportunity to join in the fun and the songs that bring us together. It will be a joy-filled afternoon.
