One-on-One Vocal Lessons

Who are you singing to? How are you singing the stories you are trying to tell? Let's work on it together. I'd love to work with you on warm-ups, breathing and delivery. Even if your audience is just yourself, let's get you accustomed to hearing your own voice and explore what it can do. Feel free to come to me with a song you want to work on or I can select a song for you. I really enjoy this work, and beginners are very welcome!

Reserve a lesson spot here and Zoe will follow up with you via email to schedule a time for your 45-minute private lesson. Buy one lesson at a time or save with a four-lesson bundle!

STUDENTS SAY:

"I love taking singing lessons from Zoe Ellis and highly recommend her as a teacher. She knows so much about how to create sound and deliver a song, and she helps me to make the most of whatever abilities I have, and to build on that. She provides effective suggestions that have swift and observable effects, and is so encouraging and helpful during the process. Whether you’re a reticent beginner or experienced singer, I’m confident that Zoe can help you progress towards your goals, and have fun doing it." - Elaine S.

"I have been singing for most of my adult life and have been in two different choruses, but I never had a private singing lesson until I started taking lessons from Zoe Ellis. Despite the fact that we need to meet over Zoom rather than in person, Zoe has been able to zero right in on what I need to work on and give me effective strategies for achieving my goals. Along with constructive criticism come ample encouragement and positive reinforcement. It’s been a joy to work with her." - Nikki E.

" I love both singing in harmony with others, and soloing in front of a small, supportive audience. I came to Zoe with the goal of exploring my growing edge in my soloing, and I am so glad I did! Zoe is helping me enter new frontiers of improvisation, to let go more, to find space in the scales, find the rhythm in my body, and use my breath to support me. The lessons with her are bridging the gap between the vocal technique I’ve learned singing in choruses my whole life, and the fun I have singing with my own guitar accompaniment, in solos and sing-alongs with family and friends. Zoe is helping me to to find more confidence and freedom in my singing! I highly recommend her." - Lynne Anne

BIO

Zoe Ellis has been singing all her life. Starting in elementary school with light opera, she moved on to gospel, R & B, soul, hip-hop, and house music. She added a capella improvisation to her repertoire when she joined SoVoSo and Keith Terry’s Slammin All-Body Band. Alongside her brother, jazz saxophonist Dave Ellis, she leads Zadell (Zoe and Dave Ellis), which showcases her original compositions, highlighting both the power and emotion of her voice, and its softer, soul-stirring side. Together they recorded Zoe Ellis: Live at Anna's Jazz Island. She is currently co-lead vocalist for Darryl Anders’s AgapéSoul and holds a chair with Linda Tillery’s Cultural Heritage Choir. Along with Bryan Dyer, she is also the founding leader of the Freight Singers Community Chorus, working year-round with 75+ members weekly.
